Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. This 10% formulation offers mild exfoliation and is supported with a purified Tasmanian pepperberry known to reduce signs of inflammation and sensitivity that is often associated with exfoliation. This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time. Contraindications: Lactic Acid should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Please refer to additional sun protection note and other warnings in provided Directions. This pH of this formula is approximately 3.8. Lactic Acid has a pKa of 3.8 and pKa is the most important aspect to consider in formulating with acids. pKa implies acid availability. When pKa is close to pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, maximizing effectiveness of the acid.

Not sure if this even works. I left it on my face all night and zero results. No tingling, no exfoliation, nothing. Disappointed

This is my favorite lactic acid formula from any brand. I have tried much more expensive formulas and I always go back to this one. I alternate it with retinol. Amazing anti aging results

I bought this in hopes it would be the answer to solving my persistent acne, but as you can tell, it did not. Iām sure this product is a miracle worker for some, but this did absolutely nothing for my skin after using it for three weeks.

If you have adult acne or just sensitive skin and you never get to use products that benefit your skin. You will LOVE this acid. It will change your skins texture, appearance and pores are tight. My acne is clearing up. It happened extremely fast. I had a really bad break out for months from trying to get in a tretinoin/ retin A routine. My face looked worse than ever and I’m in my 30’s. Adult breakouts suck. These acids all the AHA’s lactic acid, glycolic acid in combo with a benzol peroxide acne free line have changed my skin. I apply the acid at night with a hydroquinone 2% lightening cream that also has small amounts of lactic and glycolic acid. If you also get the acnefree system DONT USE STEP 4 OF THE ACNE FREE. it is retinol and if you have sensitive skin like me it will destroy you. This combination is amazing for me because I have sensitive skin that easily has a breakout. These together almost immediately did what I have tried to use retin A for almost a year. My skin is dewy, tight and clear. I’m so thankful I did some research and found out about using acids. It has saved my skin. I hope this can help someone who is tired of dealing with the depressive self conscious feeling from the breakout.

I love products by The Ordinary! They have such effective products at great price points. This item, their lactic acid, is wonderful. A few months ago I started having rosacea on the tip of my nose. I had read about lactic acid and how it’s such a good exfoliator, turning over skin cells and such, so I ordered it with high hopes. I was not disappointed. I used this lactic acid every morning, just 2 or 3 drops to cover my face and neck. It goes on easily and feels like I’m applying water to my skin. Within a month, the red on the tip of my nose had completely disappeared, and this was the only difference in my skincare routine. I continue to use it for cell turnover, and recently got my husband to use it daily. It’s wonderful!

I love Sunday Riley Good Genes lactic acid treatment but yikes it’s expensive. After reading some info on the internet, I decided to try this since it’s about 10% of the cost of SRGG! The formula is very different. This one is watery whereas SRGG is a cream. SRGG "soaks in" and feels like a moisturizer while this one feels slightly tacky after it dries. I feel a little tingling sometimes with this one, but no tingling with SRGG. I think they have similar results – my skin feels really soft after both.
I love SRGG and also their Luna sleeping oil. If I had to choose which one to get the authentic one, I would choose Luna oil because the closest dupe out there isn’t even close. The Ordinary Lactic Acid gets similar results as Good Genes. It’s harder to apply and feels kind of sticky, but for the price difference I can deal with that.
